She looks so pretty! I love the green in the background. I think I was able to take some nice photos with the 40mm 1.4 and if the 35mm 1.2 didnt exist I would be VERY happy with the 40mm but I think the smoother bokeh combined with the fact that I was missing a bit those 5mm, made me go with the 35mm 1.2 in the end.īTW, I love this picture. I always struggle with the decision depending on the lens and focal length. In fact, a decent amount of shots I do are stopped down. I subconsciously tend to prefer less aberrations over the best bokeh. So its about finding the right balance that fits your needs pretty much. Or what type of "perfectionist" because you are trading more perfect CA control for less "perfect" bokeh, or vice versa. Depends on how much of a perfectionist for image quality you are. Valid points, though the 40mm also has less CA. It was the one thing I preferred about the Batis 40mm when I compared it to the Sigma 40mm Also one thing I also like a lot about the 35mm 1.2 is that it has closer minimum focus distance which I find helpful. I'm personally glad I waited for the 35 1.2 it's the best lens I've owned thus far. The 35 1.2 though is a mirrorless lens design from the ground up. The 40mm was a cinema lens design, carried-over as a DSLR stills lens. He spent 99% of the video assessing the lenses for video use, then just threw a couple of comments about photography use as an after thought. I also watched Gerald's video and here's my issue with it he's a video guy. The AF on the 40mm is quite a bit slower feeling though, where the 35 1.2 is super snappy. The 40mm does have better vignette and distortion control two things most easily corrected. The charts will tell you one thing, but then things like image rendering and bokeh in real world will tell a different story. The 40mm may be technically a tad sharper in in the corners, on a chart, but in real world that won't actually translate. Want a still very sharp lens but with smoother bokeh, then go for the 1.2.its PURE MAGIC!ġ00%. You want the most corrected, sharp lens but with more nervous bokeh, then go for the 40mm. The 35mm 1.2 is not exactly as sharp but is surely very sharp lens and for my work, is a better option because the Bokeh is surely smoother than the 40mm Art. Now, the 40mm is a very sharp lens in the center and across most of the frame.really a beast. The 35mm 1.2 may be a bit tighter than the Art 1.4 but does that mean the 1.2 is longer focal length than 35mm or that the 1.4 was wider? Who knows.I can say that comparing the Sigma 40mm to the BAtis 40mm, the Batis was a bit wider so take that for what it is. I had the 40mm Art for a few months before changing to the 35mm 1.2 Harga Lensa Sigma 35mm Terbaru April 2023 Beli Lensa Sigma 35mm Online di Blibli dan Dapatkan Promo dan Diskon Termurah. I see a lot of comparisons between the new 35mm 1.2 and the 35mm 1.4 but what about the 40mm 1.4? The focal length may as well be 35mm I would really like a top quality 35mm, I only shoot photo's.
